Following the release of the unique new stand alone Digital Tachograph Card Reader from Microlise, the range has been extended to include a version which incorporates both ethernet LAN and USB connections. The USB connection allows download of the vehicle tachograph data using a Siemens Digidown reader. The Ethernet LAN connection allows direct routing of drivers card data without the need for additional GRPS communications and is ideal where operators wish to provide a central digital tachograph card reader in the drivers room or re-fuelling area.
The Microlise Digital Tachograph Card reader simplifies the collection of data from driver smart cards to allow subsequent analysis, storage and compliance reporting for Drivers Hours and Working Time Directives. The reader normally uses GPRS connectivity making it ideally suitable for remote out-bases where no IT infrastructure exists. It uses the standard file format held on the card so it can be used in any existing analysis software solution.
The unit is foolproof and has no complicated buttons. It only requires the driver to enter the card for the download to take place. This new model has the ability to automatically download and transmit data from the vehicle tachograph unit using a Siemens Digidown reader. For flexibility the reader can even be powered directly from the cigar lighter in the vehicle cab.
Stephen Watson, Product Manager for Microlise commented, "For many companies the introduction of digital tachographs will bring increased complexity and costs in meeting their compliance requirements. I am confident that the new Microlise Digital tachograph Card Reader will simplify the whole process making life easier for the driver and depot staff. "
